Indigenous peoples in Quebec have the highest self-rated ability to speak their primary language "very well," of any other province.

My data contains information on how Indigenous peoples in different provinces and territories rate their ability to speak an Indigenous language. On the left are the options how someone could rate their language level, split up by geographical area.

In my slice, there are some data points labelled as "F" — these are data points Statistics Canada labelled "too unreliable to be published."

More Indigenous women speak or understand their primary Indigenous language than men in Canada,  Statistics Canada  reports.  By number, there are more off-reserve Indigenous women than men who speak their primary Indigenous language. However, there are also more Indigenous women than men in Canada. Comparing the percentage of speakers to the population in each region, more Indigenous women than men speak their primary Indigenous language in all provinces and the Northwest Territories. The average Indigenous language speakers across the country is 35.2 per cent of Indigenous women, to 32 per cent of Indigenous men.
